TomTom TeleAtlas deal has to wait

The TomTom TeleAtlas merger that was announced last year is getting some objections by the European Commission. It is not a full brake, but a soft brake, so here are some issues that TomTom can solve until May 5th, it is said. I am curious what they are supposed to deal with to get an okay from the EU.

The unboxing of the Qstarz BT-Q1000P

I have been ordering one of the first Qstarz BT-Q1000P GPS data logger on the planet, I am quite sure. I took it out of the box with a pointed camcorder. ;-)

QStarz to market with new BT-Q1000P geo logger

The BT-Q1000P is the newest brainchild of gps-builder Qstarz.

This upgraded new (P)latinum version is an improved version of the BT-1000 (see our own hands-on GPS Passion review HERE), that is not even that old.

What are the differences?

In fact there are only two differences, but one of it seems to be extra nice. Next to more memory for waypoints (200.000 instead of 100.000, which is nice) the very much improved v4 version of the QStarz GPS Travel Recorder PC Utility (which includes photo tagging software) seems to be very promising. Now it looks that Flickr and Google Maps are fully integrated in the software so you don’t have to make an KML-export to Google Earth to see your waypoints.

In short the new features are:

• 200.000 waypoints (before 100.000)
• full integration of Flickr and Google Maps/Google Earth
• user friendly 3-step geotagging
• photo preview and slide show
• analyses of speed and height in 3D

And it still has the strong 51-channel reception of the MTK chip set.

I want/need a new GPS mouse WITH logging, so I did make my pre-order already… Can’t wait!
