After in fact stopping support for PDA’s and smartphones it is very likely that TomTom will bring a iPhone version of its navigation software to sell to customers, Reuters tells us. The Dutch navigation device maker is not yet telling when it comes to the market, but it is expected that it will be on the same date that the iPhone 3G will be for sale.

Early vacation warnings

gps_steal

Having the vacation season in site it might be wise to give your that same warning as last year. Personal Navigation Devices (PND’s) are becoming common more and more and therefore wanted by thiefs.

  • keep your gps out of sight if you are not using it, even for a short stop
  • keep the cables and windscreen dock/mount away if you are away
  • keep the window without suction cup marks, if you are away even longer
  • never put you own home address as home location. I did put a location one block from mine. If you are close to your home, you will know the way…

Maybe I am paranoia, but I even start on putting away all my cables and stuff before parking my car in some area’s.

I hope you will have a warm (or cold, if you prefer that!) and healthy vacation. Come back safe!

MacBook to Go with GPS

modbook

It isn’t Apple itself that comes with an unique tablet computer running Mac OS X Leopard. Axiotron brings us the Modbook, a pen-based computer for the price of about $ 2290, not even that bad.
The nice thing is that the specs say the following:

Built-in GPS Module
Perfect for geotagging, navigating and mapping.

and later it says:

Global Positioning System
The Modbook is the only portable Mac solution that features a built-in Global Positioning System (GPS). The Axiotron Modbook GPS Module is based on the industry leading SiRFstar™ III chipset for faster first location fix times and improved tracking capabilities in challenging urban and outdoor environments.

My question would be whether this tablet computer is not a little bit to expensive for “challenging urban and outdoor environments“.
Would you take your ModBook for a walk?

Nude dancer signal

I could help, but I did laugh loud. The adult entertainment is said to be a very innovative industry ( and I believe that), just like the GPS industry. GPS Magazine brings the news that Nudar.com brings both worlds together with POI data on strip clubs, nude beaches and more for you GPS.

Just like Fletch I do warn you the American way: WARNING: that site contains nudity and is NSFW. (but I really have NO idea what the last means. I did look it up. Now I know ;D )
